Marissa Brown. I am sophomore music education major at SUU.
I
am from Farmington, Utah (aka Lagoon) and I love being an
active student. I am a little athletically challenged, but I love being
healthy. I love to dance and I love marching band which requires a lot
of physical activity. I am always on the go, so it is really
important to feel my best and have high energy levels.
I'm doing this is to keep me healthy without killing myself with crazy diets or intense workouts. I need to exercise more
because I find that it relieves stress and gives me more energy. I
can't diet because I am hypoglycemic, which is the opposite of
diabetes. It means my body needs to be constantly fueled because
I have dangerously low blood sugar. Sometimes this becomes a problem
when I exercise because my body runs out of fuel easily and makes
it hard for me to keep going.
I
have a goal to start yoga. I feel it would be good
for my body and a great stress reliever. I think my body could
lose about 10 pounds since none of my pants fit anymore! I
think 10 pounds is a good, obtainable goal for me.
Some
of my fitness favorites: Swimming laps in the school pool (it is free
for students!), my salad container,
adding lemon or grapefruit essential oil to my water for
flavor, OatRevolution oatmeal, quinoa, Muscle Milk, and dried fruit to snack on.
Karyn Child. I am a music education major from West Valley City, Utah. I am a senior,
but only a junior in the music program. My goal is to finally reach my
goal weight by August. My motivation for this is actually my little
brother. He recently has lost 80 pounds and I want to be skinny like
him!
I work out every morning for about half an hour but the majority of my "getting healthy" routine is my eating habit. I eat every 2-3 hours which seems to help boost my metabolism and I watch my portions. It's not hard at all because it means I get to eat often which I am a fan of. I have had success doing this in the past (losing 32 lbs), but this time I am going to stick to it.
I always enjoy seeing how my self control comes into
play the more into it I go. I know I slip up sometimes but it's
realizing that I can start over every day that keeps me going.
Alisha Fabbi. I'm a senior working on a Bachelor of Fine Arts in theatre arts with a musical theatre emphasis. I'm from Las Vegas, Nevada.
My goals are
to be healthy, strong, and flexible to be a better dancer.
My motivation
is being able to walk into an audition and feel confident that I will
kick any dance combination in the face.
Vices: I hate the wall you hit
when you know you can't exercise anymore and being sore.
Favorites:
Running and not being winded and being sore after a good workout.
Tom Hanratty. I'm a music education major from Las Vegas, Nevada. I'm a junior (but still have two more years left).
I decided to do this to get healthy, flexible, toned, and "sessy." I am waaay too self-conscious when it comes to my body and appearance. I know when I've reached my healthy goals that it will help my body image issues.
I like tennis, racquetball, ping pong (which can make you break a sweat), riding my bike, hiking, and social weightlifting (preferably with people who lift less than me). I also like running, but that tends to break my ankles because of tendinitis.
I don't like losing contests, waking up in the morning to exercise, watching what I eat, or not eating when other people are.
